Pickleball Paddles

Many people come into the store and are blown away by our HUGE selection as they timidly quiz the staff, “I heard you guys stocked some pickleball? What’s up with the water-skis and pickleball? Weird mix!?” We just smile and remind them that we are Shuswap Ski & Board - a Premier Sports Store built on passion and a desire to have as much fun as possible. We get into the sports and activities that we love to do and pickleball is no exception! WE LOVE IT!

Our passion for the game started with Mike and his wife, Kira, trying out the game and like many people, becoming thoroughly addicted!! One chilly evening in fall 2016, our good friend Brett and Mike were rallying over an SUP leaned on its side. He was schooling Brett and Andrew on the finer skills of soft dinking (who were total bangers and just wanted to hit the ball… HARD). Andrew snapped a quick photo and put it on our Facebook page. MADE IN CANADA, Manta Pickleball reached out to us through that post and asked if we wanted to stock some paddles… the rest is history… Mike went on to become the President of the Calgary Pickleball Club, and completed his Coaching certification for pickleball. Investing countless hours into growing the game in Calgary. Andrew continued to train, finally figuring out the soft game and is proud to have medaled in recent 4.5+ tournaments, taken RPO level 1 certification, as well as has spent time on court training with the likes of Ben Johns, Etta Wright, Collin Johns, Tyson McGuffin, Anna Bright and more. As obsessed about pickleball as Andrew has become, Mike still holds his own on the court when the two of them play as Andrew continues to still be a banger!

We have been playing and selling pickleball for a pretty long time now! As we approach 10 years stocking pickleball paddles, we think about how much the game has changed in that time and how many different paddles we have seen come and go in the professional and recreational scene.
